If your parents separate or divorce, coping with the change can make school hard.

It can be a really difficult time, you might have to:

  • move house, away from your friends or family
  • change schools
  • give up your belongings or a pet
  • separate from a sibling or another relative.

It’s not always easy to focus on your work and get along with people at school if you’re feeling hurt, confused or worried about home.

You might feel like you don’t want anyone at school to know. But telling your favourite teacher can help them understand what you’re going through so they can support you better.
