Here, she explains more about the awards and why you should get involved!
First things first, what are the awards?
The Inclusion Ambassadors are a group of young people from across Scotland, who all have additional needs. We set up the awards in 2022, to encourage schools and early years centres to show us what happens in their classes that isn’t about assessments and tests. We believe it’s important to showcase different types of success because everyone has different strengths.
It’s about including everyone. Success doesn’t and shouldn’t come down to what the exam results say – because everyone needs a space to showcase their talents!
Why are the awards important?
The Success Looks Different Awards are a perfect place to showcase what your school does to celebrate every pupil.
You can tell us how you celebrate their achievements as individuals. It will allow your school to show how you help children feel included, supported and celebrated by those around them.
So, what does a good application look like?
The Success Looks Different Awards are a great way to show us what you do to help students meet their full potential, through demonstrating inclusive practices that your school have implemented.
The awards are judged by the Inclusion Ambassadors, and we love seeing what our candidates demonstrate. Show us what you do to help children and young people succeed that doesn’t resemble an exam paper or test. Every school supports differently, so show us what you can do!

How to apply
The Success Looks Different Awards are open to schools and early learning centres, in the following categories:
- Early Years
- Primary School
- Secondary School
- Special School
